They were made from a black painted and grained board and included a cut out for the interior light and the ashtray. I really wanted to love these, and I *almost* did. They are comfortable and cute. But they are a little wide across the mid-foot so they were a little sloppy on my feet. The platform is quite high, and while at 5'3" I appreciated the extra height, between that and being too wide, I felt they were an accident waiting to happen. If they were slightly more narrow and a little lower, I would have been in love, but I had to return them. They seem true to size except for the extra width.
